On September 11, 2021, Lander Pipe Band members joined the Casper Fire Department Pipes and Drums in the Governor's 20th Anniversary of 9/11.

The combined members of the LVFD Pipe Band and Casper Fire Department Pipes & Drums in front of the Wyoming State Capitol in Cheyenne (9/11/2021).

About this event:

This performance was a joint effort between Wyoming's two premier pipe bands: the Lander Pipe Band and the Casper Fire Department Pipes & Drums.  This beautiful memorial ceremony was reported on by Buckrail News (click here).

Thank you to all who organized this event (including Wyoming's L.A.S.T.) and, most of all, to those individuals and families who have sacrificed and continue to sacrifice for the safety of our nation.

Nine band members from Lander Pipe Band (4 drummers and 5 pipers) and five pipers from Casper FD began to play at 6:15am in front of the State Capitol as attendees gathered on 9/11/2021.  It was a brisk wind that welcomed us to the grass next to the Capitol's steps.  Most pipe bands don't play this early in the day, so it was a first for most, if not all, of us.  Five of the performers were youth, all members of LVFD Pipe Band.  Lander Pipe Band is proud to perform along side its sister band, the Casper Fire Department Pipes & Drums.

FDNY's Rescue 2 Heavy Rescue Unit

The band had the opportunity to see up-close Cheyenne's refurbished Rescue 2 from the Fire Department of New York (FDNY).  This rescue unit was one of several that responded to the 2001 9/11 attacks on the Twin Towers in New York. In 2017 Rescue 2 was move to Cheyenne to be refurbished.  Today (Sept 2021), Rescue 2 is the only heavy rescue operating in the state of Wyoming.
